Frequently Asked Questions
The following set of Questions and Answers will help you prepare for your visit.
What services will be taking place?
We are holding a single service at St Luke’s at 10am each Sunday.
Will there still be online services if I don’t want to attend in person?
Yes, services will be live broadcast via our website
I am in a “vulnerable” group, should I attend in person?
This is up to you. If you choose to attend you will be very welcome, however if you have any concerns then you may prefer to continue to join us online.
What if I am not feeling well?
Please stay at home if you are feeling unwell, particularly if you have a new & continuous cough, a high temperature or a change or loss of taste or smell. We want to protect the health of everyone, and ask that everyone looks out for the health of others.
What if I have symptoms or a positive test for Covid-19 after the service?
Please contact the parish office and let us know so that we can take any appropriate action.
If I come to church, will I be visible on the online service?
Front area of church will be visible in the online service. If you do not wish to be visible, please let us know and we will allocate you a seat which is not visible.
Do I need to PRE-BOOK?
We no longer require you to pre-book, just turn-up to our services as normal.
Will the church look different to normal?
Church seating has been returned to our ‘normal’ layout, no longer using the Lower Hall. However, we will have some ‘socially distanced’ seating and can extend into the Lower Hall, as required. Just let us know, on arrival.
What will happen when I arrive at church?
You may need to queue outside whilst we show people to their seats. Please arrive in plenty of time, and maintain ‘socially distanced’ from others whilst waiting. You will be asked to wash or sanitise your hands on arrival, and the welcomer will take your name and contact details for NHS Test and Trace purposes.
How will I know where to sit?
There will be some members of the congregation who wish to remain cautious. To ensure that they still feel comfortable attending church, we ask that you leave at least two seats between you and the next person or family group unless they actively invite you to sit closer. There will also be some seats at the back of the church and on the dais which will be more socially distanced.
Do I have to wear a mask/covering?
Yes, it is a requirement to wear a face mask/covering in our church to allow singing to take place. If you in one of the exempt groups, please let us know on arrival.
Can I wear a visor/face shield?
You are welcome to wear a visor or face shield in addition to a face mask/covering, however a visor cannot be used in place of a face mask/covering.
Will there be LIVE music?
We will be playing pre-recorded music. There will be no live music at this time.
Can we sing?
Yes. Congregational singing is allowed, but we require you to wear a face covering (to keep it a safe environment for everyone).
What will happen AT communion?
We will be holding Holy Communion on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Communion will be given in one kind only (bread), and will be brought to you whist you remain in your seat. You will be given hand sanitiser before receiving the bread. You may remove your face covering to receive communion. There will be no words of distribution, and you should not say “Amen” after receiving the bread.
Will there be Sunday school?
We will be holding Sunday School on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month. The children in Sunday school will not attend part (or all) of the church service.

The church is being regularly cleaned with antiviral products by our professional cleaning contractors, who will be prioritising all “touch points”.
Will toilets be available?
Yes, the toilets will be open. Please maintain ‘socially distancing’ if you need to queue.
Can I stay after church to talk with others?
Yes, we have resumed serving coffee (and tea) after the service, but please be mindful of those who still prefer to respect ‘socially distanced’.
